EXCHANGE OF IDEAS:
FLGISA fosters the exchange of ideas in various ways:
During each conference, a "roundtable" discussion takes place. This is a free form exchange of ideas, problems, solutions and situations within individual local governments. The "roundtable" allows the group to participate in a problem solving mode. Participants are encouraged to bring items to share, and problems with which they need help.
Each year, FLGISA provides each member a survey of other local government's hardware, software and key personnel. This allows members to communicate with others that have like hardware and software as well as demographics.
LEGISLATIVE UPDATES:
FLGISA stays abreast of legislative and regulatory issues that affect its members and communicates through FAX or Internet. This permits local governments to actively participate in the issues.
CONFERENCES:
Each year FLGISA holds TWO conferences. An intermediate conference is held in February, with the Annual Conference being held in July. Vendors showcase products at the Annual Conference. In addition to the "roundtable" described above, the conference conducts both technical and management seminars designed to improve the membership's skills and knowledge. Conferences are rotated throughout the state. Registration costs are kept to a minimum and hotel rooms are booked in bulk to allow for the best cost breaks possible.
