Florida Local Government Information Systems Association

We are an organization for CIO’s, IT Managers, and technology decision makers from the state’s local government agencies.

We welcome all agencies to become a member. The FLGISA can benefit your local government organization no matter how big or small.

FLGISA was formed in 1976 for the purposes of fostering professionalism of its members and sharing ideas and experiences. While the FLGISA has held true to those original concepts, the association is consistently being enhanced to stay current with the needs of its members. The association is staffed and supported by the Florida League of Cities. Michael Sittig, Executive Director of the League, says, “This is the premier technology organization for Florida local governments. I encourage all local government agencies to be a member and actively participate in the FLGISA.”

FLGISA is the Florida Local Government source for leadership, innovation and collaboration in technology.

To assist and educate local government technology leaders to collaborate, innovate and communicate, for the benefit of the communities we serve.

Our Story

Agency membership in the FLGISA is open to all local governments operating within the State of Florida. This includes, but is not limited to, cities, counties, property appraisers, tax collectors, law enforcement, courts and public schools and special districts.

Training and Networking

The FLGISA conducts two educational conference per year for local government IT professionals. Conference sessions are targeted to the needs of the local government sector, and include keynotes from industry leaders as well as various workshops by technology experts to keep members current on important trends.

Leadership Development

The Florida Institute of Government in partnership with Florida State University offers the Certified Public Technology Manager (CPTM) and the Certified Government Chief Information Officer (CGCIO) program. These nationally recognized programs provide public sector technology professionals with valuable educational experiences that will enhance their abilities to serve as IT leaders in their agency.

Philanthropy

FLGISA has taken an active role in helping to build the leaders of tomorrow by offering annual scholarships awards. High school graduates and currently enrolled college or university students employed by member jurisdictions are eligible.

Advocacy

Local government technology issues are important to us. We make sure we are constantly working for the interests of our members. Strong legislative relationships allow us to give valuable input on technology and telecommunication legislation that affects the way we work on a daily basis.
